Helping Filipino Entrepreneurs Build Businesses with Clarity, Compliance, and Confidence

I did not become passionate about entrepreneurship because I read it in a book. I lived it before I fully understood it.

Long before I became a Certified Public Accountant, I grew up listening to stories about my father. Although he suffered a stroke before I was born and passed away when I was twelve, the stories about him shaped how I see business to this day. He worked as a maintenance mechanic in a textile factory, yet he never relied solely on his salary. He operated a canteen inside the factory and pursued every opportunity to earn through small businesses. My family often recalls that during those years, life was abundant. They had enough, they were generous, and they dreamed confidently about the future.

But I also inherited another lesson from his story.

Despite being hardworking and entrepreneurial, much of the money owed to him was never collected. Friends and co-workers whom he trusted failed to pay what they owed, even when our family desperately needed it after his illness. That experience taught me something I would only fully understand years later: hard work alone is not enough. Every successful business also needs sound financial systems, discipline, and good stewardship.

After my father's illness, my mother became the pillar of our family. She worked tirelessly, selling whatever she could and taking every opportunity available to ensure her children could continue their education. Watching her perseverance taught me resilience. Watching my father's entrepreneurial spirit taught me possibility. Together, they shaped the foundation of my life.

My journey was far from easy. Financial limitations forced me to delay taking the CPA board examination after graduating from college. I entered the corporate world, gained years of practical experience, and eventually earned my CPA license in 2012. Every challenge along the way strengthened my conviction that knowledge, perseverance, and integrity can change the trajectory of a person's life.

In 2018, with no established client base and only a vision to serve entrepreneurs better, I founded Acosa Accounting Office. What began as a small accounting practice has grown into a trusted firm serving hundreds of businesses across different industries. Along the way, I realized that most entrepreneurs do not fail because they lack passion. They struggle because they lack clarity—clarity in their finances, their taxes, their systems, and their decisions.

That realization changed the direction of my career.

I no longer see myself simply as an accountant. I see myself as an educator, a strategist, and a partner in helping entrepreneurs build stronger businesses. Accounting and taxation are merely the tools. The real mission is helping business owners create enterprises that provide security for their families, opportunities for their employees, and meaningful contributions to their communities.

My journey has also been enriched by the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP), where I found a deeper appreciation for stewardship, servant leadership, and using business as a force for good.

This conviction eventually inspired me to write Taxcelerate, a book that challenges the common belief that paying less tax means avoiding growth. Instead, it presents a different perspective: when entrepreneurs understand how business, taxation, and investment work together, growth itself becomes one of the most powerful legal tax strategies.

Everything I create—my books, articles, speaking engagements, online courses, and consulting—is driven by one belief:

"When entrepreneurs become better leaders of their businesses, they create better lives for their families, stronger communities, and ultimately, a better nation."

That is why I do what I do.

And this is only the beginning.
